I was honoured to be asked by the good folks at North Lake Cafe and Books, Abiko’s best (and only) rare books cafe to recommend three books to read for the summer. My picks, and 32 other folks’ are featured on their website here and constitute 99 book recommendations for summer. Since 99% of North Lake’s customer’s are native Japanese speakers, I thought it best to suggest English books that are lavishly illustrated, then at least readers can enjoy the art, even if the words are a little difficult to process.
Anyway, I recommended these: Tokyo on Foot by Florent Chavouet, The London Jungle Book by Bhajju Shyam and (for the kids) We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury.
If you are interested in the books I read and review, feel free to friend me on Goodreads, And I’m always delighted to get recommendations for good books to read too. Now, to find some time to read the darn things…
