Orsay Visitor’s Guide by Françoise Bayle

I picked up the Japanese version of this guidebook to the Paris stuffed-to-the-former-train-station-rafters-with-impressionist-art museum from a local secondhand book chain and was glad of it. Not only was the book in pristene condition, cheap and in high  resolution, but because the book was in impeccable Japanese I was forced to just look at the paintings, and what paintings they are. I’ve only been to Paris once in my life and spent a day at the Louvre. I wish I had spent it at the Orsay. This book goes some way to mitigating my loss.

Here are several paintings from the book that jumped out at me by the likes of Manet, Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir and Degas. Enjoy, I did.

No. 19 of 100 books I intend to read and review in 2019.
