Reading a Commissario Brunetti mystery is lke revisiting your favourite family hotel. The place may have aged a little, the room may be different and a few of the part-time help may have come or gone since your last stay, but the visit is essentially just as enjoyable. The Temptation of Forgiveness is both familiar and new and while not particularly memorable, here the plot revolves around accounting scams, it doesn’t really matter. It’s enjoyable and another addition to the canon.
